Fujitsu air conditioning in Australia is now GENERAL
The air conditioning brand formerly sold here as Fujitsu is now branded GENERAL. The paperwork hasn't caught up yet. Both warranty cards we could find still carry the company's old Fujitsu name, and we couldn't find any current warranty cards under the GENERAL name.

What actually changed, and what didn't?
The brand name on the product changed, and the Australian company behind it changed its name too. But it's the same company. As far as anything we could find shows, the warranty terms and the product families didn't change with it.
That leaves you with the awkward situation you're probably seeing on site. Product badged GENERAL, paperwork saying Fujitsu. Both warranty cards we could find still carry the company's old name. We'd expect reissued paperwork under the GENERAL name, but as at 24 September 2026 we hadn't found any.
So for now, the warranty paperwork that still says Fujitsu is the paperwork for GENERAL product. Don't let a customer talk you out of a claim because the badge and the card don't match.
What are the commercial and VRF warranty terms?
These we could verify from the commercial card. Cover runs 36 months from the date Fujitsu General or an approved installer commissioned the unit. Replaced parts are covered for whatever warranty is left or 6 months, whichever is longer. A repaired or replaced compressor gets whatever is left or 12 months.
The clock starts at commissioning, not at purchase or installation. If the unit sits for a while before the system's commissioned, that works in your favour. So record the commissioning date properly.
What we couldn't confirm
What couldn't we confirm about GENERAL?
We couldn't find current warranty cards under the GENERAL name. Everything above comes from paperwork that still carries the company's old name.
What we know about the Authorised Partner program is second-hand. The GENERAL Australia website wouldn't let us read it, so our information came from search results, not the site itself. Check it yourself before you rely on any dealer program claim.
And one guess we're not making. There's a registered product line that hints at a push into heat pump hot water. The registration's real. But reading it as a business move would be a guess, not a fact, so we're leaving it out rather than dressing it up.
Rethinking which brands you carry?
It's a bigger decision than the margin on the next job, because it decides who you ring when something goes wrong in year four.
Kevin will tell you how the ones you're considering actually behave on warranty.
Who this is for: small and medium HVAC contractors in Victoria. If you're a homeowner after a rebate or a repair, you need a licensed contractor, not us, and yours can point you the right way.
